There are quite a few rules in professional tennis, and using your phone during a match is apparently in violation of a rule.
During Sunday’s U.S. Open fourth round match against Gael Monfils, Marcos Baghdatis earned himself a warning for using his phone during the second set.
He tried to hide the phone with a towel, but he wasn’t very discreet. The umpire announced a code violation for Baghdatis.
Baghdatis claimed to the umpire that he just wanted to check the time, but he told reporters after the match that he was texting his wife.
Monfils defeated Baghdatis in straight sets.
