Indians pitcher needed help after a midge flew into his eye mid-pitch

Cleveland’s Progressive Field was overtaken by midges — small, baseball-loving bugs — on Wednesday night, and it made pitching way more difficult than it should have been for Carlos Carrasco.
During the fourth inning against the Astros, Carrasco threw a pitch low and outside. He immediately reached for his eye as even more midges could be seen swarming around him.

Bugs are gross.
This wasn’t a simple nuisance either. His entire infield circled around him as the training staff tried to identify where the midge was on his eyeball and flush that bug off — what a process. This is the sort of thing that I wouldn’t wish on anyone, especially when it’s televised to a regional audience in Northeast Ohio.
The worst part was when Carrasco finally got the bug out of his eye, even more midges were landing all over him! Carrasco would remain in the game, which was a testament to his patience. Bugs are the worst.

These midges’ baseball fandom can be traced back to the 2007 ALDS in Cleveland when Yankees pitcher Joba Chamberlain was covered by these bugs.
