Back in May, Garbage Time host Katie Nolan used crowd-sourcing to fund a plaque for a Central Park bench in New York City that would pay tribute to the soon-to-be-retired Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz.
Four months and $10,000 later, the bench and its plaque (“David Ortiz. Thanks for the memories”) are officially a part of one of the most iconic places in New York City. It’s quite the troll job:
Nolan didn’t reveal the exact location — she did say there were 9,485 benches in Central Park — so she’s tasking viewers with finding the Papi bench. As of Friday afternoon, it appears just two folks have hunted it down:Go find THE BENCH! #PapiSeats pic.twitter.com/W5WUEiGDDu— usa sports (@UsasportsOvh) September 10, 2016
And here’s the moment the David Ortiz bench became officially part of Central Park:2 pens please! @GarbageTime @katienolan @upprlmtsofnrml #Papiseats #benchplease pic.twitter.com/Pg9JfTwDJE— Andrea Duffy-Cabana (@ADCyeaYouKnowMe) September 8, 2016
