Yao Ming poked fun at Allen Iverson’s practice rant and Shaq’s free throw shooting in HOF speech

Yao Ming was ready to crack all the jokes when he stepped up to give his Basketball Hall of Fame Speech on Friday. He had the audience chuckling at multiple points, as Bill Walton, Bill Russell and Dikembe Mutombo sat up on the stage.
Yao started by saying he was nervous, then immediately clowned Allen Iverson.
“When I heard that I would be the first speaker tonight, I thought somebody made a mistake. Don’t laugh because I think this spot belongs to the great Allen Iverson. You know why? Because I need more practice than him.”
He didn’t stop there. A couple other jokes he made went toward Mutombo and Shaq. Yao addressed Mutombo last after Russell and Walton. He said that was because Mutombo looks the oldest out of the three.

The Shaq joke came while Yao talked about his parents. From them, Yao said he was gifted with “the soft touch I had on the free throw line. That’s why I have about 10,000 free throws less than Shaq.”
Yao has officially gotten Shaq back for that traveling joke he made in his nomination speech.

Yao also had more serious, touching moments. It was the perfect way to kick off the Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremonies.
